STATEMENT

The basis for this project is to use visual semantics in typography to prove that by manipulating and illustrating words and type, one can effectively invoke the meaning and emotion behind written words. The hope and promise within this exploration is to show that children between the ages of five and seven can gain literacy through the use of visual semantics and semiotics using only typography and color. With rising levels of illiteracy in our children everyday, I am turning to the basic elements of design as well as typography to communicate a message. My hope is to create clear messaging that is emotionally driven and understandable to all children.
